The new route keeps cyclists off Washington Street, except where they cross on Miles Avenue into the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and does not cut through Adams Street or divide the city’s business corridor.
“I’m very excited about the plan as opposed to last year,” Kris Gunderson, traffic operations analyst for the city, told the City Council during a Nov. 19 study session. “This is much more comprehensive than last year.”
Ironman officials said Monday that they believe the course works well for area residents and businesses and the athletes.
“Athletes should not notice a difference in the flat and fast nature of the course,” the Ironman team said in an email.
